So I of course went on Pinterest when planning small one’s
I found this super amazing polka dot cake and decided to adapt it for my own evil purposes.
There are CASTLES hidden inside.
With my every helpful sous chef (who now refuses to take off her ballet costume for love nor money) I made the cake the night before her party.
Cream together; 2 cups butter, 6 cups sugar and 4 tsp vanilla.
Add 8 eggs.
Stir in 10 cups flour, 8 tsp baking powder and 4 cups milk.
Take 1/3 of the batter and tint with food colouring to the shade of pink that you’d like.
Pour into the shape that you’d like to hide inside the cake.
I have little wedding cake moulds here which I baked until firm and let cool.
Cover the bottom of a 9 inch cake pan (greased and covered with parchment paper on the bottom) with vanilla cake batter (1/2 inch) add in your shapes (baked and at room temperature).
Cover with the remaining batter and bake at 330 until a skewer comes away clean (approx. 20 minutes).
Don’t worry about trimming the edges.
We’ve got LOTS of fluffy icing to cover them up.
Just for selfish reasons I made my favourite icing.
My Gran’s 7 minute (just triple the recipe for this cake) and tinted it pink.
Add a layer of the icing and turn the second layer upside down.
Blow out the candles and then ask again to have them ‘turned back on’ and then blow them out again.
With your Auntie Michelle’s encouragement-devour it without using utensils.
Guaranteed to taste better that way.

Wow….castles in the cake. Brilliant!
Just think of what shapes you could hide in there!
Hee hee, cake tastes even better when you bury your face in it!
It totally does. C:
