Brunch Week: Strawberry Mimosa

Welcome to the first day of Brunch Week!

I’ve joined up with some of the most amazing bloggers going this week to celebrate all things wonderful about one of my favourite things-brunch.

Christine from Cook the Story was kind enough to invite me and it has been a ball getting ready.  I’ll introduce you to more of this great group tomorrow.

Can you really get better than a late, leisurely breakfast that encourages you to sit and chat and generally enjoy life?

Each day this week I’ll have a different treat that we’ve adopted as our top brunch picks.

Today at 2:00 we’re all have a tweet chat to tell you about a TONNES of prizes that are coming up.

You will want to win ANY of them.  Actually I want to win ALL of them.  However, even though bloggy love is universal this particular draw is only open to U.S. residents.

I thought I would start the week out with a bang after seeing this on Pinterest.  brunchquote Who’s to argue with that? How about I add some fruit into the mix to make things a bit healthier? Strawberries, honey and sherry blended up make for a pretty pink base. bellini1 A couple of Napoleon Bee glasses with stripey straw and juicy garnish… bellini2 Topped with sparkling, dry wine makes for a VERY cheerful way to start (or end) any day.  Ok, maybe not a workday. Do yourself a favour and don’t waste the good stuff on this drink, the strawberries are the star. bellini3 Now, enjoy your Sunday and have another bottle of bubbly at the ready-just in case. When you have a drink this pretty people tend to spontaneously show up.   bellini4 And they do disappear pretty quickly. bellini5 And don’t forget that there are prizes galore!

I totally agree, you need booze with brunch! This stuff looks great~! I’m definitely going to have to give it a try.

How much sherry to puree to you put in? I’ve never used sherry before… Also, what kind of sherry? I have something called ‘Bristol Creme Sherry’, would that work!?

    • Jane says

hmmm, oddly my recipe card has disappeared but I’ll fix that up for you in a jiff. Bristol Creme Sherry would be ok. It’s just a bit sweeter so I would cut the honey allotment down by half.

Oh my gosh that was a fast reply! I can’t tell you how much I appreciate that, and the advice.
I would truly appreciate the recipe card! You can email it to me if you wish! Can you see my email come up?

This is the perfect recipe for what I was looking for. Not only have I recently learnt about the ease and deliciousness of strawberry puree, but I am (well WAS) looking for the PERFECT drink for Friday and this is it!
Some friends are picking up a box of Krispy Kremes and we are having a donut and drinks party. I wanted to bring a drink that would go well with the KK’s and I am sure this is it!

        THANK YOU!!
