When we moved into our house we literally had people ask us why we bought it. Pink shag carpets, nicotine stained walls, overgrown yard…1970’s wallpaper everywhere. I’m sure you can picture it. But it had good bones, the roof was good, foundation fine, the street was quiet and the yard was HUGE.
Over the past 10 years we’ve added another half of the house, landscaped (twice thanks to the addition), put on a steel roof, changed out the furnace, rewired everything, moved walls, painted anything that didn’t move and now we’re just about to gut our face-lifted but still dysfunctional kitchen.
How’ve we done it? I’m fairly handy but I was smart enough to marry someone REALLY handy and well, we’re both fairly fearless (or not so bright-that’s up for debate).
Here’s our latest project; our walk-in closet.
I thought it was going to be something quick with a bit of new racking and that’s about it.
What did it turn into? A bulkhead down, drywalled, a new colour and bling to hang from the ceiling.
Basically, the best birthday present that I could have every gotten.
It got finished last week and I’m still thrilled.
But you’ll have to just wait for a wee bit. I’m going to take proper pictures and go through our whole ramshackle place.
