A very exciting Monday around here!
A few months ago I was approached by the amazing Christine (from ‘Cook the Story’) and Jennifer (from ‘Mother Thyme’) to contribute to a cookbook. Not just any cookbook but one that would help a lot of folks who rely on food banks to keep themselves and their families together.
September is Hunger Action Month, a nationwide campaign mobilizing the public to take action on the issue of hunger. We’ve been mobilized and we’re hoping to mobilize others.
We’re all busy and sometimes dinner time is stressful. Simply because of time. Imagine though of a mealtime when you literally had nothing to offer your loved ones.
Check out this fabulous video for more details.
Over 30 bloggers teamed up to put together a cookbook full of healthy affordable slow cooker dinner recipes called Where Slow Food and Whole Food Meet: Healthy Slow Cooker Dinners from our Kitchens to Yours. The book includes my recipe for Thai Pork with Vermicelli Noodles.
and Island Jerk Pork by the Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida.
We wanted our book to help in a big way. Here’s what we’ve done:
All of the proceeds from the print copy of the book are going to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida.
This is the link on Amazon where you can buy the book:
In addition, Feeding America food banks from across the country are giving the ebook version as a free gift to their donors. If you make a donation you will be given the ebook as a free gift. Donate right now and get your free ebook by clicking here.
To help get the word out about hunger in America and our cookbook, some generous sponsors have jumped on board.
Together, San Miguel Produce http://www.sanmiguelproduce.com/, Grimmway Farms http://www.grimmway.com/ and Old Oak Farms by RPE Produce http://www.oldoakfarms.com/ are making some big contributions to help end hunger. They are each contributing food to their local food banks AND they are giving $5 for every print copy of the book that we sell.* That’s in addition to the proceeds from the book that are already going to the food bank! You get a book and you get to help end hunger in America in a big big way.
Each participating blogger is giving away TWO print copies of the book. Enter below and visit all the blogger links to go and enter on each of their blogs. The giveaway of these books is sponsored by San Miguel Produce http://www.sanmiguelproduce.com/, Grimmway Farms http://www.grimmway.com/ and Old Oak Farms by RPE Produce http://www.oldoakfarms.com/
